Product review: Benton Hair Loss Relief Biotin Shampoo

 I do not like how this shampoo smells; I have to think of it as medicine to keep using. I know Biotin is supposed to be good for hair growth.

Some online sources suggest that beer applied as a shampoo, hair mask, or rinse can result in healthy, shiny locks and even promote hair growth. But to date, there’s no clinical evidence that beer is beneficial for your hair — whether applied topically or ingested.

So far, I do not see less hair in the drain. I will give it a few more weeks and post an update if I see improvement.

Product review: FavorKit Stainless Steel Slicer Shredder Attachment for KitchenAid

 

 This set of three shredders fits our Kitchen Aid mixer perfectly. It is made out of stainless steel and is dishwasher safe. It has been through the dishwasher several times as I write this review with no problems.

The first project, captured in the attached video, was shredding potatoes for making latkas (potato pancakes). They came out as good as shredding potatoes by hand (compared to the food processor, where the consistency is not quite right). My husband is the latka master and gives this shredder high marks!

Product review: Wismart Large Capacity Zippered Clothes Storage Bags

 I got the large-capacity storage bags.  They are 22.8" long, 10.6" tall, and 17" wide.  The bags have handles on the side, and a transparent window on one side, so I can see what is inside.

The material is not as heavy-duty as I imagined; it is not canvas.  It looks like a non-woven plastic material.  However, it is strong enough to hold winter clothing or blankets.  And I really appreciated that the bags did not have any smell right out of the box; I did not have to air them out.

Product review: OJEKAI Rechargeable Electric Handheld Massager

 

The wand is 6" and has a flexible neck. It comes with a charging cord and a carrying bag. It has a lot of settings, but the flexible neck flexes a bit too much. I had a bad shoulder and applied the massager in the pack of my neck where the trapezoid muscle is. Because the massager flexes, it provides very light massaging.

Product review: Din Don Jelly Fruit Snack Tik Tok Challenge Hit or Miss ( food review, candy)

 There are no instructions on how to open or eat these snacks. The content is encased in plastic and has an oily feel to them. We were not able to open them. I tried cutting them open, and the liquid spilled out. We started with a yellow one, and the spilled liquid was almost flavorless. I  looked at stock photos and watched the stock video, and it contains no information as well. It does not show how to prepare or consume the product. The spilled liquid did not taste good.

Product review: Yecuce Foam Toothpaste Strawberry and Orange Flavor, Non-mint toothpaste

 

I hate the mint flavor, so I always look for non-mint toothpaste.

This toothpaste does not come as regular toothpaste in a tube; it comes in a small foam dispenser. It is only 3", not counting the cap. The foam toothpaste comes out as a foam and almost immediately disappears. When I brush my teeth with it, there is almost no lubrication, so brushing is a little rougher than regular toothpaste that generates foam as you brush. I tried both strawberry and orange flavors, and both have no flavor at all. As long as it is not mint, I am happy, so I had no problem with no flavor.

I want cavity protection, so I would have liked to have full fluoride, not low fluoride. Why not offer this toothpaste in full fluoride and low fluoride versions? I know other adults who always look for a good fluoride toothpaste that is not mint-flavored.

A small dispenser makes it expensive, but such a small dispenser works well for travel.

Product review: LetsGetChecked - At-Home Lyme Disease Test

 

"LetsGetChecked" test is not an instant test that gets you results right away. You need to register on their website, collect blood samples and schedule UPS pickup before 10 am on the same day. To collect a sample, you need to prick multiple fingers and collect blood the required amount of blood to fill the ampule included in the package. Do not throw away the box - the samples must be returned in that box (only that box will be accepted).

I do not know how accurate the test is. I am concerned that one of the other reviewers said that these test results were negative, but the doctor's test came back positive.

Product review: Kabrita Junior Goat Milk Powder for Kids 14oz

 

Goat milk powder does not have to be used by babies. Goat milk powder tastes rich, so it makes a good coffee creamer. I also like it with my morning cereal. I don't think it tastes "goaty", I find it very similar to cow milk but a little sweeter.

Bought Jun 2022, expires January 2024 (unopened).

Kabrita formula is made in the Netherlands.

Product review: Poyday Microfiber Hair Towel Drying Wrap

 I have been using hair-drying wraps for a few years to preserve curls after washing my hair, so I have quite a bit of experience with these towels. These wraps are 80% polyester and 20% polyamide; they are not as absorbent as 100% cotton wraps. They are okay, but I don't like them as well as the cotton wraps.

I also prefer not to have a rubber band edge like these towels do, I can wrap it better with a straight edge.

I like that this sunscreen is unscented and goes on clear, leaving no white cast.
It comes in a long and narrow tube, 1.5 oz.  The small tube is good for keeping in my purse to use on the go.  I also like that it is made in the USA.

Product review: MAEXUS Jar Opener Kit, 4 in 1 Jar Opener, ineffective jar opener tool

 

These tools did not work for me. At all. The jar opener claws are very wide; I can barely grasp them with one hand. Squeezing the claws requires a lot of strength, and it is much harder to open jars using the tool than using a grippy pad. I tried several jars, and I could not open a single one.

The tool to pull up can tabs worked better, but it is harder than using a bare hand, and it is easy to spill the can using the tool.

Product review: Dr.NOAH Kids Natural Toothpaste, Fluoride Free

 I hate the mint flavor, so I am always looking for non-mint toothpaste. I like how this toothpaste tastes, slightly lemony and not too sweet. Unfortunately, it is fluoride-free. I want cavity protection, so this can't be my main toothpaste.

Why not offer this nice-tasting toothpaste in with and without fluoride. I know other adults who always look for a good tasting fluoride toothpaste that is not mint-flavored.

Product review: ALLJOY Foot Warmers, USB Electric Heated Pad Feet Warmer

 

 My feet get cold in the winter, and I have purchased various things to keep them warm. I like this foot warmer because it generates comfortable heat, not too hot, that becomes uncomfortable over a short period of time.  

The feet warmer is sized 13.5" x 14", so you have to keep your feet very close together. I would have liked it to be a little wider for a more comfortable leg position.

The unit is controlled with one button and has three temperature levels: red setting 134°F, yellow 126°F, and green 115°F (note that the Amazon description has the settings backward). The heating element is just on one side of the pocket and is removable so that the outer pocket can be washed. The zipper separates the warmer into two separate pieces. There is a 2-hour auto-shutoff.

The foot warmer is powered by a standard Type-C USB cord. The cord in the package is 5 feet long. The power outlet is on the right side. I have to use an extension cord to use it.

Product review: KTS Finger and Toe Fungus Treatment Laser

 I waited until I had over a week of daily treatments to write this review. I see no difference so far; the instructions say to expect 12 weeks of daily treatments. However, I have collected a list of things I do not like about the device in one week of use.

This device is a clamp that clamps onto each toe you want to treat. Each treatment takes 7 minutes. If you have more than one toe affected, you need to spend 7 minutes on each toe one at a time. The device cannot be used while charging, so allow charging time for each use. As you can tell, this treatment is time-consuming. I also find the pressure on each toe from the clamp uncomfortable. You need to avoid getting the light into your eyes, so do not turn it on until the device is attached to your toe/finger.

So far, I can only give it two stars. I will post an update if I see any improvement in 11 more weeks.

Product review: Ineffective Safer Brand Safer Home SH400 Indoor Spider Trap

 

I'm writing this review after 13 days of using these traps. I set out two of them, they are both covered with spider webs, but caught no spiders inside them.  Useless.

These traps are made out of very sticky tape. They are in-door traps that should not get wet. I put them in the basement, where I saw spider webs.

Folding instructions are very unclear. Minimal diagrams do not show clearly how to fold and are not to size. The cardbox can be folded in multiple ways, and in my video, I show two of them, as I was not sure if either one of them was right.  I found it is easier to work with, if you prefold the cardboard before exposing the sticky area.
