Product review: EASTSHINE Bundle: Nitecore EC4S 2150 Lumens CREE XHP50 LED Flashlight

I bought this flashlight over a year ago. Initially I liked it a lot.  It was bright and I liked that it was not round in shape and did not roll.  However, after about 6 months of use it stopped working reliably.  It would not stay bright even with fresh batteries.

The flashlight 6" long, it is made out of aluminum alloy. This flashlight has 5 modes: turbo, bright, medium, low light, ultra low. In addition it has 3 special modes: strobe, sos, and location beacon.

This flashlight runs on two 18650 batteries. The batteries and the charger are included as part of the package. Also included a holster for the flashligh and a car charger adapter. The batteries in my package were totally discharged and I needed to go through a full charging cycle before the flashlight could be turned on.

Product review: DaskFire Diving Flashlight 1000 lumens

This flashlight is 6 inches long and weights 8.8 oz. It has 3 modes: bright, normal and strobe. The bright setting is quite bright with a central hot spot (i.e. not a uniform light but rather brighter in the center).

This flashlight runs on a built-in rechargeable battery.  It comes with a charging cable.  The charging is a bit unuseal as the flashlight has type A connector built-in, rather then a more common mini USB.

Product review: Outlite A100 High Powered Handheld Flashlight

This is a very bright flashlight. My favorite feature is a variable focus. On its largest setting the spot light is quite large and still very bright. I show how variable focus works in my video - all you have to do is slide the barrel up or down. The flashlight is 5.25" long, made out of aluminum alloy, it feels sturdy weighing 6.5 oz. The lens of the flashlight is plastic.  The flashlight is waterproof but should not be submerged in water (i.e. okay in rain).

It runs on one 18650 Li-ion battery rechargeable battery and the package includes one lithium a battery and a charger. It can also run on three AAA batteries (which are not included). The flashlight includes AAA battery holder so either battery type has a good fit in the flashlight. It took me about 4 hours to fully recharge the 18650 battery.

The flashlight has 5 modes: bright, medium, low light as well as fast strobe and SOS. To change the brightness I need to press the button once, to get into strobe modes I need to press the button twice in a row.

Product review: B BRIGHT Zoomable USB Rechargeable IPX4 Waterproof Headlamp

This headlamp is very bright. It has three lamps and can operate in four modes: two small lamps, one powerful central lamp, or three lamps together, and finally it can be put in the strobe mode. In addition to the front light, it has a red light on the battery compartment which is useful for any nighttime outdoor activity as it makes the person visible from the back.  When the headlamp is in strobe mode both the front and the back lights flash.

The central lamp has a zoom. The ring on the central light can be rotated to change the size of the beam from small to large as I show in the video.

The straps on the headlamp are highly adjustable and fits both my relative small head and my husband's head.

The light is mounted on a bracket which can be racheted to angle down so it is can be aimed to point to the ground in front of the person.  The racheting mechanism is a little stiff but hopefully it will become smoother with more use.

The  headlamp runs on either one or two 18650 batteries. It has a built-in battery charger and a micro USB cord is included in the package. Also included is a AAA battery holder. Instead of using 18650 batteries, one could use the more common AAA batteries.

The  package also includes a bicycle bracket, so the headlamp can be used as a bike headlamp as well.


Overall, pretty good headlamp: the brightness of the light and light on the back are two things that made it my favote headlamp.

Product review: LYDF Rechargeable Tactical Flashlights / 5 Modes Zoomable

Don't let the title which includes the words "for kids" scare you, this flashlight is not a toy.  This compact flashlight (5" when retracted) is very bright and feels very solid.

The spotlight the flashlight produces can be zoomed.  What I like is that when the spotlight is at its largest setting it process even amount of light through out the spot lights.  No rings of light and dark light I have seen in some of old flashlights.

When I press the button on the end firmly the light turns off and turns on, when I press it lightly (i.e. not all the way down) I can switch modes (bright, medium, dim, and two flashing modes).  On the brightest setting I can get about an hour of bright light.

I like that the flashlight can run on either 18650 battery (included) or three AAA batteries (AAA holder is included).

The flashlight is splash resistant (i.e. okay in the rain but cannot be submerged into water).

The package includes in addition to the flashlight: a plastic case, a charger, one 18650 battery, AAA batteries holder, a plastic case for 18650 battery.

Product review: Flashlight WUBEN Waterproof 1200 Lumens CREE LED Rechargeable Battery and Zoom

Wuben flashlight is a very bright flashlight. It generate an even bright beam of light that can be zoomed. It has 5 modes of light: Eco,Low,Medium,High, and SOS.

In addition to a permanent light on setting, the light can me turned on briefly when the button is pressed half way down. The instant-on light only stays on while you hold the button half way.
When the button is pushed all the way down it switches modes.

This light runs on one 18650 battery. The battery is included.  The flashlight also servers a re-charger, it can be plugged in using a standard micro USB cable.

The flashlight is waterproof to IPX-8 standard, which means it is protected against water submersion in water. The flashlight comes with a couple of spare o-rings in a plastic baggie.

Wube flashlight feels very solid. In attached photos you can see it on the 1/2" grid and on the scale. It is 6.5" long and weighs 6.2 oz (with the battery installed). It comes with a wrist strap and a micro USB cable.  I liked that the cable had a braided jacket.

Product review: Nitecore HC30 1000Lumens CREE XM-L2 U2 LED Headlamp Handheld Flashlight

This is a unique headlamp. It is a band that accepts a small flashlight, which can be used by itself or as part of the headlamp. I really like the flashlight, but using it in the headband was not ideal. First, I am not able to shine the flashlight down because the light gets into my eyes if the flashlight is pointed down. This does not happen in a typical headlamps which have a light that can be ratcheted down because the casing shields the light from the eyes. The ratchinging mechanism gives me a better control over where the light is aiming. The flashlight is larger than a typical headlamp light and it makes the headlight more top heavy than my other headlights.

The flashlight itself is very nice. It is relatively small - 4 inches long and it weighs 4.5 oz (with battery installed). The flashlight has 5 brightness levels: Turbo, High, Mid, Low, Ultra-low.

Lux meter readings:
At 12 inches the lux meter showed
' 13840 lux on turbo high setting
' 7210 lux on high setting
' 2050 lux on medium setting
' 45 lux on low setting
' 4 lux on ultra low setting
' For comparison, a 60 watt fluorescent bulb at the same distance produces 1119 lux.

It runs on one 18650 battery which is included. The battery was totally discharged when I received and required a full recharge before it would work in the flashlight. The elastic band is adjustable.

Overall, I like the standalone flashlight more than when it was in the headband.
