Product review: Marine Forest Concealer Stick

 

I selected the Ivory color, which was a good match for my pale skin of a sun-avoiding female with European roots. I thought it covered a few freckles and red spots well.

The concealer comes in a paper tube, which is not a good container. The tube does not close tightly. Be gentle; the product easily separates from the tube. There is only a tiny amount of color in the tube; the majority of the tube is empty.

Product review: Soft Bristle Manual Toothbrush from Active Wow

 The bristles on these toothbrushes are very soft, very comfortable, and I like how they feel.  However, I am concerned that they are leaving tartar behind due to softness.  The handle and the head are small, which I like.

Amazon's description says the handle is made out of plastic, and the box states that the handle is made out of bio-wheat. I found this discrepancy confusing. The handle is hard. It will be interesting to see what it looks like after a year in my composter.

The description on the box also says that the toothbrush is gluten-free. Seems like the seller is just trying to use every possible popular keyword. I don't know too many people who chew their toothbrushes to desire a gluten-free toothbrush.

The bristles are not bio-degradable and, according to the box, should be disposed of separately from the handle. But instructions do not say exactly how one would separate the bristles from the toothbrush.

Update: after 10 days of usage, the bristles are falling out while I am brushing.  Have you ever had this happen? Very unpleasant.  Downgrading from 3 stars to 2 stars.

Vinsena lady shaver includes three heads and four combs.

I like:
1. Shaves well
2. Changing heads works smoothly and well

I do not like:
1. Shaver's head gets very warm; this is usually a sign that the motor is not strong enough
2. Does not use a generic type-C cable has proprietary cable; if I misplace it, the shaver is useless
3. No carrying case

Not a terrible shaver, but the negatives make it just okay.

Product review: Weather Stripping 5 Holes Type Seal Strip by SZKXMJ - thin black weather strips

 

The Amazon dimensions are stated as LxWxH 3.94 x 3.94 x 0.98 inches. The Amazon description set my expectation to the totally wrong size. This weather stripping is very thin (see attached photos taken with weather stripping next to the ruler). The weather stripping is made of five tiny tubes. The total width is 3/8" at the thicker end of the weather stripping (3 tiny tubes wide) and 1/4" wide at the narrow side (2 tiny tubes wide).

I could not use the weather stripping for the purpose I purchased it. The quality of the product is good, but the description is not accurate.

The serving size is three caplets which deliver 1000 mg of Calcium.  My doctor recommends 1200 mg daily, so 1000 mg is on the low end.  It also contains 400 mg of Magnesium and 15 mg of Zinc.

Purchased in July 2022, Expiration date May 2025.

The price per tablet is reasonable, but since the amount is low, I alternate it with another Calcium vitamin which gives me a large amount of Calcium.

Product review: Amazon Basics HydroClean Cordless Water Flosser

 

 I have used a few water flossers over the years, and this flosser has almost all the features that I like.

I like:
1. This flosser has a large reservoir. It holds enough water for me to do a complete flossing session.
2. The button that turns the flosser on and off is conveniently located. It is not overloaded with features, just on and off, so it is easy to operate.
3. The flosser water power is good. The water power can be controlled by the blue ring under the tip.
4. The flosser runs on two AA batteries. It is not rechargeable. AA batteries are easy to replace. Flossers with rechargeable batteries must be thrown out when the battery no longer holds a charge. This happened to my favorite flosser after a few years. A few flossers I bought since then have not been as good. The Amazon Basics flosser feels like it might be as good as my old favorite.

I don't like:
1. The flosser is re-filled from the opening at the bottom of the container, so it is not as easy to fill fully when the opening is at the top of the container.
2. The flosser comes with two tips. They come in a plastic bag without any markings. I had manually written that the extra tip belongs to the Amazon Basics flosser. I have a few flossers, and none of the tips fit other flossers, so it would have been better if Amazon marked the tip's packaging (or tips).

Muse Garden feeder hummingbird feeder is a hand-blown glass hummingbird feeder that holds 27 ounces of sugar syrup.  It looks pretty, and hummingbirds like the syrup.  We purchased several of them and placed them on a different side of the yard.  The birds found them quickly and go through 27 ounces in each feeder a week.

Product review: MHY CARE 125 Pink Dental Bibs Disposable - help for messy eaters

 MHY Care dental bibs have a size 13” x 17.75”. They come without a clip to put around your neck.

They are fairly thin but have a waterproof layer on one side. I use the bibs to protect sloppy eaters from keeping the front of their shirts getting dirty during eating. They work well for that purpose. I am using them with small clips to attach to clothing. The only thing that could be better if the color was white, grey, or beige rather than pink.

I do not like:

Overall, a nice shaver that works well. The negative is relatively minor.

 I am a list maker and use a lot of journals to keep track of things. I like dotted journals; this format lets me keep my notes neat.

I was a bit disappointed by these journals because when I received them, some pages were half torn out of the spiral and were sticking out. These pages are still usable but likely to get torn out as I write and move my hand over them, not to mention that the journal just looks "messy."

The three journals arrived packed in a cellophane envelope inside the shipping bubble mailer. The cellophane was in perfect condition, so the damage to the journals did not occur during shipping but rather is a manufacturing defect.

Product review: REACH Interdental Brush Extra Tight 0.7mm

 I have very tight teeth, and when I tried "tight brush," it was too large to fit between most of my teeth. These brushes rated as "extra tight" work just right. My teeth feel really clean.

Unlike the floss, I insert the interdental brush at the gum line, into the tiny gap between the teeth, and brush using in and out motion (not up and down).

What could be better? Instructions lack information if the tool can be used more than once or is meant to be disposable. It is also not stated how often an interdental brush should be used.

Google search tells me that it can be used for 1 or 2 weeks and should be used once a day, but I would have preferred that the package provided this information. Google search also told me that it is best to use before brushing and that regular toothpaste should not be used as it is too abrasive.

Cheribundi Tart Cherry Juice comes in a pack of 6 plastic pouches. The title of the items says 12 pouches. The current price for this item is 36 dollars, so it works to be $6 per pouch. It is not worth it either on effectiveness or taste.

The flavor is recognizable as tart cherry but with a medical aftertaste. The instructions said you could drink straight or dilute to taste, and I find it more pleasant when diluted. Each package is 90 calories.

I did not find the drink helpful for sleep at all. Purchase this product for flavor and hydration only.


The instructions on how to use it are practically unreadable - small dark burgundy-colored font on a black background! I had to use a bright light and a magnifying glass to figure out what it said. The manufacturer targets this product for people in their 20s whose visual acuity can handle this low contrast.

This cleaner is powdered soap. The small tub container has a "shaker" style top, which you can use to get some powder onto your hand and use as you would use soap. It does not remove makeup well. The powder is unscented. It is a bit messy to use. It is expensive. I do not see where a powder would be better than other options especially given the price.

 This small set of makeup is well packaged and includes an applicator. I was a little disappointed in the color. I was hoping for a dark brown, where the color is light brown; I would describe it as a chocolate color. The stock photo is not accurate. It is not a good match for my eyebrows, but I can use it as an eye shadow.

Product review: The Aid to Practicing Makeup, face mask by TMEEIHNSS

 

 The mask enclosed in the package allows me to practice makeup application. It is a nice mask made out of textured silicone. The makeup does not spread exactly as it does on the skin; the makeup appears less visible. It still gives me a good idea of how the design looks.  

Even though I got the "brown" option, the skin tone is a pretty good match for my pale northern European complexion. Maybe "brown" refers to the color of the eyes. It would have been nice if I could pick an eye color to match my own.
